Another domino has fallen in the Portage Terriers commitments this summer.

Daniel Siso has committed to joining Calvin University (ACHA DIV I) in Grand Rapids, Michigan this fall.

Siso notes that joining Calvin will give him the opportunity to do something he never got to do in his youth.

“My brother plays there. He’s played there for the last two years, so I’ve been talking to the coach for a couple years, kind of keeping a flyer going there. I talked to a bunch of other schools, and then it just came down to always wanting to play with my brother. I never had an opportunity to growing up, since he was two years older. We both went our different ways in junior, he went to BC and I went to Manitoba. So, for me, it ended up mostly about being able to play with him, and when I had that opportunity, I thought I should seize it.”

Siso shared that he has lots of love for Portage and the program that helped him reach this point.

“Portage was three years I’ll never forget, and a big reason why I’m still playing the game. Obviously, after COVID, it was kind of lost a little bit, the love for the game since it was so hard to be at the rink since you were home all the time. So, it helped me love the game again, and with all the great teammates I’ve had, and the great coaching staff, I really appreciated everything. And I can’t say anything but great things about the billets I had. So, overall, I’d just say ‘Thank you’ for everything, I appreciate it.”

Siso plans to study marketing at the university, beginning this fall.

He played in 126 regular season games with the Portage Terriers, scoring 47 goals and  109 points.
